A FAMILY escaped unhurt after an arson attack at their home.
The fire happened at 1.30am on Thursday in Bamburgh Close in Oxclose, Washington, after an accelerant was put through the letter box.
There were three people, two adults and a child, in the house at the time.
The fire is being treated as arson and police are appealing for witnesses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101.
