A PUB landlord is hoping to transform a former florist shop into a gin bar brimming with curiosities and bits of Durham’s history and is appealing for old photos to help him.

Trevor Davis, who owns the Court Inn and Tin of Sardines, is expanding further with a gin bar in The Riverwalk shopping centre.

He is hoping Old Tom’s will open in the unit formerly occupied by Stephanie’s Flowers in the autumn.

The building in Framwelgate Bridge is thought to date from at least the 16th century but could be several hundred years older.

With hopes of filling the bar with curiosities and information about Durham, Mr Davis is appealing for people to share photos or pictures of the area prior to the 1970s.

He said: "I'm after any old photos of that side of Durham or any information about that area.

"We are missing a lot of year's history of the building."

Anyone who can help can attend an event at the Court Inn next Tuesday from 5pm- 7pm or can call 07810267121.
