A NEW work of art has been unveiled as part of project to turn an eyesore into a garden for employees at one of the region’s largest organisations.
Three Men in a Shower, created by County Durham sculptor Graeme Hopper, was unveiled at Northumbrian Water’s headquarters at Boldon House, Durham.
Groundwork NE has been working with adults from the Daybreak Charity to re-design an overgrown courtyard, creating a pond and bog garden, an insect hotel, landscaped gravel walkways and boat seats made from recycled wood and picnic benches.
The sculpture is based on three Northumbrian Water employees, Mike Ciaraldi, Brian Ford and Richard Woodhouse, and depicts the varying moods people feel throughout the week.
Chief executive Heidi Mottram said: “The old garden had become overgrown and was a bit of an eyesore, so to have it transformed into such a beautiful, picturesque oasis is incredible.”
