ALMOST nine out of ten students leaving a Durham college have progressed to further study or employment, according to new figures.

New College Durham says 89.6 per cent of its leaving students in the 2015/16 academic year went on to another education course or got a job – a two per cent year-on-year increase.

Principal John Widdowson said: “We are delighted with our latest progression data. It means that our qualifications are giving our students the skills and knowledge that they need to progress onto further study or meaningful employment.”

“It is an excellent achievement for the college, and parents can be confident that we will give their child the best opportunity to achieve and progress.”

New College Durham offers over 100 full-time vocational courses, in addition to 18 A-Level subjects and more than 50 different apprenticeships.

An open evening is taking place at the college on Tuesday, February 7 between 5pm and 7pm.
