DURHAM Cathedral will host family-friendly activities during the school half-term holidays.

There will be a bird box building workshop on Wednesday (February 17) from 11am to 4pm, suitable for children aged three and up.

Children aged two and up can decorate ready-made bird boxes.

Sessions last up to an hour. The cost is £10 per child. To book, call 0191-374-4070.

Visitors can also pick up a free bird search backpack from Monday to Friday (February 15-19) from 10am to 3pm.

Children can search for birds on the Cathedral’s stonework, windows and elsewhere and also explore the woodlands outside.

Both the indoor and outdoor trails last about an hour. Backpacks are free to borrow from the information desk and suitable for children aged two and up.
