A DOG re-homing charity has launched a tenth anniversary appeal to raise £250,000.

Stray Aid, based in Coxhoe, County Durham, hopes to raise the money to develop and maintain its kennels and a range of events are planned throughout the year.

H’Angus the Monkey paid a visit to the kennels to launch the effort.

In the past ten years, the number of dogs passing through the kennels every year has grown from 100 to 1,500 and the area covered by the charity has expanded to include County Durham, Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.

More than £10,000 has already been donated online.

A Night at the Darts will be held at Bearpark Working Men’s Club, near Durham, on Tuesday, April 5, featuring world champion Glen Durrant, Linda Itthuralde and Channel 5’s Paul Booth.
