A COMMUNITY is rallying around a two-year-old boy who is suffering from a rare form of cancer.

Little Daniel Rainbow, from Stanley, was diagnosed with stage four high risk neuroblastoma in February.

Test confirmed the cancer had spread to his bone marrow, liver, chest and hip, pelvis and knee bones.

His family has been told neuroblastoma has an 80 per cent chance of returning and if it does there is no treatment in the UK so Daniel would have to go to America for treatment which costs £500,000.

Staff at Westerleigh Residential Home on Scott Street in Stanley have raised more than £2,000 to help with his care with a series of coffee mornings and fundraising events including a sponsored walk and football match.

The youngster and his family visited the home earlier this week to say ‘thank you’

Day centre team leader Kelly Richards, 39, from South Stanley, who helped organise the events, said: “We saw other people doing things to help Daniel on Facebook so we just wanted to see what we could do to help.”

Several other events, including a Halloween Party for adults on October 31 from 7pm, at New Kyo Constitutional Club, have been organised to help.
