A STANLEY-BASED company which produces play equipment for children with special needs has been awarded a national environmental award.

Marmax Recycled Products fought off 500 other companies to be crowned winner of the Green Apple Environment Award in the campaign to find the greenest companies, councils and communities.

The award’s official presentation will take place at the Houses of Parliament on November 16.

The company’s, Jackie Robshaw, said the whole company was delighted to win the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice for 2015 for their Special Educational Needs (SEN) Range which uses 100 per cent recycled plastic and stops 57,914 two-pint milk cartons from going to landfill.

The company has also been invited to have their winning paper published in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice.

Ms Robshaw said: “Our aim was to design and manufacture heavy duty outdoor recycled plastic play equipment and furniture to ensure that it was accessible to all to encourage inclusive play. “Our design team worked with a local SEN school to achieve this aim and complete the project.

“We have been overwhelmed by the positive response we have received about our SEN range of furniture and play equipment from new and existing customers and we are thrilled it has been recognised for this award.”
