OLYMPIAN Kat Driscoll has given her backing to a new £500,000 trampolining and free running park.

The 29-year-old from West Rainton, near Durham, who is Great Britain’s number one trampolinist, officially opened Infinite Air, Durham today (Tuesday, July 28).

The new attraction, which covers 35,000sq ft of the Soccarena facility on Belmont Industrial Estate, has 80 interconnected trampolines, making it the biggest centre of its kind in the country, plus dodge ball and basketball courts.

Driscoll, who won silver at last month’s European Games, said: “I’m jealous. I just wish I’d had something like this as a kid.

“For most people this will be their first experience of bouncing and trampolining. It’s going to expand participation in the sport.

“The kids don’t realise just how hard they’re working when they’re bouncing. It’s a full body workout and one the whole family can get involved in.”

Centre co-owner Richard Knowles, of Coretech Sports, said: “The park has been created for big kids but it isn’t just for young people – it’s open to every age and physical ability.

“Infinite Air offers a high-energy fun and fitness experience for people of all ages and we’re thrilled to bring this unique entertainment concept to Durham.”
