BAD weather forced the Royal Navy's largest warship to leave its adopted city a day early today (Monday, May 4).
HMS Ocean had been due to stay in Sunderland until tomorrow (Tuesday, May 5) following its arrival on Friday.
However it departed tonight, waved off by crowds of well wishers.
A spokesman for Sunderland City Council said: “Due to weather and sea conditions forecast for Tuesday, regretfully HMS Ocean is leaving a day earlier than expected."
