A LITTLE girl is having her hair cut off for charity.
Eight-year-old Katie Kyle is donating her locks to The Little Princess Trust to help youngsters being treated for cancer.
Hairdresser Liam Chatt Morley, from Consett, is doing the honours at her mother’s garden party at her home in Railway Gardens, Annfield Plain, near Stanley, on Sunday May 24.
Katie’s mother, Zoe Kyle, 33, who works as a telesales advisor, said: “It is over 60cm long and she is going from bum length to a very short pixie cut.
“She has wanted to do for such a long time, around 18 months, because there was a little girl in her school who had leukaemia.
“She has been going on about and I was unsure but at Christmas I contacted the charity and got the sponsor form packs and wrapped it up for her and put it under the tree.
“When she opened it up she said ‘so you are going to let me do it?
“She was over the moon.”
The garden party runs from 12pm-4pm and there will be kids’ activities, including a bouncy castle, face-painting, Olaf from Frozen, raffles, a tombolas and refreshments for sale.
