WOMEN’S Institute members have created a banner to be paraded at Beamish Museum.

Ladies from the WI at Witton Gilbert, County Durham, wanted their branch to be represented in a procession through the outdoor museum’s old town which will form part of a weekend-long celebration of the centenary of the WI on May 23 and 24.

The banner bears the branch’s name, its founding year of 1947 and a range of images related to its work and activities.

Members showed it off for photos during a coffee morning at Cooper Hall, Witton Gilbert, today (Friday, March 27) staged in aid of the Dorothy’s Well project to bring clean water to poor communities in Tanzania.

The group is always open to new members. It meets at Cooper Hall on the second Monday of each month at 7pm. Anyone interested can call Christine Stoker on 07960-589-231.
