TWO organisations in the North-East have received funding from the Arts Council’s strategic touring programme.

The programme aims to bring art and culture to audiences in areas that may have low levels of art engagement.

New Writing North, which is based in Newcastle and puts on performing arts adaptations of children’s books, receives £264,674.

Seven Stories, the national centre for children’s books, based in Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle, gets £235,901 for its three year ‘On the Road’ project.

It aims to provide children, young people and families with access to children’s literature exhibitions.
