POLICE have appealed for information from visitors to a popular public park who may have witnessed a dog attack on a child.

The incident is said to have taken place in Riverside Park, Chester-le-Street, on Thursday July 17, when a small child was said to have been bitten by a dog.

No further information as to the age or condition of the child, or the breed and size of the dog was available from Durham Police today (Sunday July 27).

Anyone who may have seen the incident, at about 1.30pm that day, or who may have information as to the ownership of the dog responsible, is asked to ring the 101 non-emergency line, quoting incident number DHM 17072014-0529.
