POLITICIANS from the main political parties will take part in a free public debate on the future of UK energy at Durham University next month.

The debate will look at key issues facing energy supply in the UK such as how to bridge the gap between supply and demand and the role that nuclear power, fracking and renewable energies might have in a future energy mix.

Chaired by Professor Jon Gluyas, head of Earth Sciences, at Durham University, the event will take place on Thursday, August 21, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm in the Calman Learning Centre, Lower Mountjoy (Durham University Science Site) Stockton Road, Durham.

The debate will be hosted by a cross-disciplinary team of researchers from Durham University’s Durham Energy Institute (DEI) and Centre for Doctoral Training in Energy.

To book a place at the debate visit www.eventbrite.com or call Hayley Naylor on 0191-334 3690.

Members of the public attending the debate should email their questions to elect.energy@durham.ac.uk by 5pm on Wednesday, August 20.
