TWO nurses fought in vain to save the life of a man found unconscious.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to Dipton, near Stanley, County Durham at around 4.20pm today (Wednesday).
Prior to its arrival, the nurses, who had been nearby, began trying to resuscitate the man, aged in his 60s and who was in cardiac arrest.
North-East ambulance paramedics, police officers and then the doctor led helicopter crew continued attempts, but the man did not recover.
