TEACHERS and musicians from across the region and beyond will gather in the North-East for a second annual music festival next week (April 29).

The Sage Gateshead’s Everyone Deserves Music will include performances, talks and events.

A symposium on Tuesday, April 29, will feature Green Party leader Natalie Bennett, who will give a talk titled: How Can Music Save the Planet?

Writer Francois Matarasso will ask Music: What is it Good for?

The festival will continue into May.

Katherine Zererson, director of learning and participation at Sage Gateshead, said: “Everyone Deserves Music is a region-wide celebration of why music is so important for all of us and highlights the importance and benefits of being involved in music, whether that’s as a performer, a participant or an audience member.

“The symposium is also a great opportunity for people to meet like-minded peers and explore new ways of involving more people in music-making.”
