POLICE and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg is going walkabout to find out what bothers the public.

The former senior police officer, who is the first holder of the post in County Durham, and Darlington, is holding the public engagement events to get the word from the street.

The idea is that members of the public can raise any community safety issues they have with Mr Hogg while they are doing their shopping.

The first event was held at the shops in Newton Hall, Durham City, this afternoon (Tuesday August 20).

Mr Hogg said: “I am keen to meet and listen to as many people as possible and I hope residents will stop and chat with me and raise any policing or community safety concerns that they may have.

“Meeting with people in busy shopping areas has proved popular with residents in the past. “I have arranged more events like this, over the coming months in town centre areas and at local shops, this will give more people a chance to speak with me personally and have their say on policing and crime”.

Tomorrow morning (Wednesday) Mr Hogg will attend a coffee morning in Brancepeth Village Hall, On Friday (August 23) Mr Hogg will be at the Cornmill Centre, Darlington, from 12.30 to 1.30 pm.
