FESTIVE shoppers will be able to discover if they are also potential life-savers on Friday, November 27.

The Round Table has joined forces with the leukaemia charity the Anthony Nolan Trust to increase the number of life-saving donor volunteers.

And the Northallerton club will have a stall on the High Street during the town’s late-night shopping event to recruit would-be donors.

Simple samples of salvia can now be used to detect matches with suitable donors ad the stall, will be in place from 6.30pm.

Club member Marcus Grover said: "We have bought these testing kits for the people of our town and would especially appeal to the men who are under 40 as they are most needed."

*The town’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on at 6pm before the arrival of father Christmas at 6.30pm. There will also be a free children’s disco and seasonal refreshments in the town hall.
