YOUNGSTERS honed their penalty-taking skills during a sponsored school fundraiser.

The 130 boys and girls at Newton Hall Infants School, in Langley Road, Newton Hall, Durham, took spot kicks that were measured for their speed.

The event was organised by the school council to raise money for play equipment.

Headteacher Jennifer Jackson said: "The pupils had a really good time.

"As well as raising money, it was really about taking part.'' She added: "Most years, the school council has a big fundraiser for things for the school.''
