GUN shots were fired at the front door of a house where a terrified family was cowering inside.
No one was hurt in the incident which happened at 8.45pm last night on Briggs Avenue, South Bank, near Middlesbrough, which police believe to be a targeted attack.
The family who was in the house at the time of the attack have been left “shaken up” by the frightening ordeal.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “It is believed a firearm was used to shoot at a front door of the address. Damage was caused to the front door but no one was hurt. Armed officers attended the scene and house-to-house enquiries are ongoing.”
Detective Inspector Paul Gordon from Redcar & Cleveland CID, added: “Fortunately no one was injured in the incident. At this stage I believe this was a targeted attack and my priority is locating the person or people responsible.
“There was a family in the property at the time who have been shaken up by what has happened. I would therefore appeal to anyone who was in Briggs Avenue at the time of the incident and may have seen something to call police on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111."
