A FAVOURITE book with children around the country has been turned into an art exhibition.

Pupils at Linthorpe Community Primary School were inspired by Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo to create sculptures to celebrate the popular book.

Headteacher Lynn Longstaff said: "The children have helped to organise the event, including making and displaying their own artwork, advertising, designing and selling tickets and making refreshments, which were served at the opening event."

She added: "During the exhibition, workshops will be organised for parents to make Lego sculptures with their children and to learn the Japanese skill of origami."
