Police probe after ball injures fans at Hartlepool United and Notts County match

POLICE are investigating after two fans were injured when a football was kicked into the crowd at a League One game.

One supporter made a complaint to Cleveland Police after being injured by the ball during Hartlepool United's 3-0 win over visitors Notts County on Saturday afternoon.

Police said both men received first aid treatment after they were hit by the ball and did not need hospital treatment.

According to reports, the fans who were injured were among the Hartlepool fans celebrating their team's second goal when they were hit by the ball.

The fan who complained was understood to be 31 and from Blaydon, Gateshead, Tyneside. The other man has not been traced by police.

No-one from either club was available for comment.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Police are investigating an incident that occurred during the game between Hartlepool United and Nottingham County at around 4.10pm on Saturday 18th February.

"A football landed in the crowd and as a result a 31- year-old man from Blaydon and another man received minor injuries.

"Both received first aid treatment at the ground and did not need hospital treatment.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Holly Angus at Hartlepool Police on the non-emergency number 101."

Just as pools scored the 2nd goal the notts county keeper grabbed the ball out of the net and booted it full pelt into the crowd behind him injuring the fans . It was quite deliberate .he didnt apologise or show any remorse.

Because they are too busy wasting money on that non league club again instead of concentrating on job in hand this rag is becoming an embarrassment.

unbelieveable. But what was some thicko from Blaydon doing at a Poolies game ?????? was he spying for the Toon ?????, possibly not because he can't have been watching too intently to allow a ball hurtling towards him to hit him. Should have ducked Waly, should have ducked ...
