A MOTORWAY cafe worker has been given a long service award.
Margaret Vickers has been working at Roadchef Durham since 1997.
She was given a dedicated service award for her 15 years’ work, along with a £200 reward.
Mrs Vickers, from Northumberland, began as a general assistant in Roadchef’s own restaurant. She has worked her way up to become senior supervisor at the site’s coffee chain, Costa.
The grandmother-of-one said: "At Roadchef I feel as if I’m part of the family – there’s such support from the company and my colleagues are kind and fun to work with, which makes my job really worthwhile."
Simon Turl, chief executive officer of Roadchef, said: "To see people like Margaret devote 15 years of their working lives to Roadchef speaks volumes about our ongoing commitment to career development and we hope that all our staff will continue to enjoy their time with us and progress within the company."
Roadchef Durham is at junction 61 of the A1(M), near Bowburn, County Durham.
