A COMMUNITY football club has been given £1,000 to help its younger players.
Brandon United, which is a registered charity, was awarded £1,000 from the Co-Operative Group’s community fund, which supports charities and voluntary groups.
Club bosses have used the money to recruit a Dutch coach to lead weekly training sessions for younger players.
Bill Fisher, the club’s chairman, said: "As well as improving their football skills, we are encouraging our players to adopt a sense of fair play as well as teaching life skills such as timeliness, good manners and respect for others.
"They are also taught the importance of good diet and healthy living in relation to sporting achievements."
The club is hoping to re-start its ladies’ team next season. For more information, call Mr Fisher on 01388-816750.
