TWO teenagers have won a national gymnastics title.
Tim Pritchard and Alex Houston won the Junior Men’s Pairs at the British Acrobatic Gymnastics championships, held in Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday, March 21.
More than 250 gymnasts from 28 clubs across the country took part in the two-day event.
Tim, 14, and Alex, 16, have been working together for four years and train with Deerness Valley Gymnastics Club, based in Ushaw Moor, near Durham.
They have been previously been under 17s champions two years running.
Both have represented Britain at European and world level, winning silver in the European Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships held in Portugal in September 2009.
Tim is the ‘top’ of the pair, meaning he is the one spectacularly thrown around. The Belmont School pupil took up gymnastics aged seven. The pair are now coached by Karl Wharlton.
