A STUDENT is hoping her fundraising skills will win her work experience at a children’s TV station.

Durham University’s Rebecca Page is competing in Hired!, which challenges students to show business acumen by staging an innovative fundraising event.

The best entrants will get one month’s work experience at Nickelodeon.

Miss Page, 21, is organising Danceathon - Dancin Dusk til Dusk in aid of children’s charity NSPCC, which will see teams of Durham students dancing to Bollywood, jive, jazz and salsa tunes for 24 hours from 8pm on Friday, February 12.

She said: "I was a little reluctant to enter the competition as I didn’t want people to feel my only motive was to win.

"My main goal was to raise money for the NSPCC as I believe it is essential to help vulnerable children.

"However, I then realised it would be a great opportunity to raise awareness of such a worthwhile charity, whilst also giving me a valuable experience."

The winners of Hired! will be chosen in April. For further details, visit nspcc.org.uk/student
