DARLINGTON Football Club administrator Harvey Madden is hopeful a deal to save the club will be signed on Wednesday.
Mr Madden spoke to The Northern Echo after spending the day in talks with members of fans’ group, Darlington Football Club Rescue Group.
The rescue group is working on a plan to form a community club to takeover the club and bring it out of administration.
Mr Madden said: “A deal has not yet been signed but I’m hopeful we will be ready to do that on Wednesday and I’m hopeful we will then be in a position to hold a press conference.”
Darlington MP Jenny Chapman has been heavily involved in the talks to save the club.
She said: “I’m pleased that we have made further progress.
“I appreciate that this will have been a frustrating time for fans but I think it’s important to get the legal framework right before we make any announcement and I appeal to people to be patient just a little bit longer.”
