Adult classes in Darlington hailed by inspectors
AN ADULT learning organisation in Darlington has been praised by Ofsted inspectors.
Courses by the Workers' Educational Association (WEA), a national adult education provider with a branch in Darlington, were praised as "outstanding" by the government watchdog.
Ofsted described the overall effectiveness of the classes as "good" and gave top marks to courses in the subject areas of health, public services and care.
Anne Staines, the WEA regional learning manager, said: "We're delighted at the excellent Ofsted report.
"Our health related courses are designed to meet the needs of our learners, building on a creative relationship with community-based organisations with whom we work as partners.
"We offer courses that promote good physical and mental health, confidence building, relaxation techniques, stress reduction and fitness."
The Ofsted report states that the WEA has: "maintained all of its key strengths since the previous inspection and rectified most of the weaknesses."
The group was also praised for providing "very good teaching and learning" and a "highly flexible and responsive range of courses."
