New lease of life for former nightclub
A FORMER restaurant and nightclub is to be converted into a Chinese restaurant.
Gastro Restaurant, in Gladstone Street, Darlington, has been sold to two businessmen who plan to turn it into a buffet-style restaurant.
Chi-Kin Lee and TzeMing Kwan, who own Chinese food wholesale business T&S Foods, have become the latest owners of the premises.
Brent Smithson, of seller Christie and Co's Newcastle office, said: "The sale of the former Gastro Restaurant generated a high level of interest and a competitive bidding situation quickly arose."
The premises, which also include a small bar and first-floor patio area, were on the market for £229,000.
Mr Smithson added the restaurant was sold for an undisclosed figure.
