SANTA Claus will be steaming into Darlington to meet youngsters as part of a traditional programme of events for December.

The Head of Steam railway museum will host Santa’s magical grotto where children will find out if they have been ‘good’ boys and girls and be handed a gift from Father Christmas himself.

Festivities for the Santa at the Station event will also include miniature train rides, as well as arts and crafts and face painting.

Visitors of all ages are being invited to climb on board as part of the railway museum’s festive fun on Saturday, December 17, and Sunday, December 18.

A Head of Steam railway museum spokesman said that booking for the activities is necessary to arrange presents for young visitors regardless of if they have been naughty or nice.

The spokesman said: “Booking is essential.

“Admission prices are £6 for children, £4 for adults or you can buy a family ticket for £20 [which includes] two adults and three children.

“For annual pass members prices are £6 for children while adults go free.”

Visits by Father Christmas this weekend will run between 10am and 4pm.

The spokesman added that tickets can be booked by visiting the museum, off Station Road, during opening hours between Wednesday, December 14, and Friday, December 16.

The museum’s cafe will also be open throughout the weekend with a full menu on offer.
