A GIRL who stole a handbag while in a busy nightclub has appeared in court.
Kaylie Anne Westmorland was spotted by doorstaff in Inside Out in Darlington rifling through the handbag along with another female accomplice on February 2.
Claire Brinton, prosecuting, said the bag had been reported stolen earlier that evening.
The 22-year-old of Bolton Close, Darlington, was detained by staff until police arrived. However, when the officers arrived she repeatedly swore at them using the ‘F’ word, said Miss Brinton.
On Tuesday, at Darlington Magistrates Court, Westmorland pleaded guilty to theft and being drunk and disorderly.
John Clish, mitigating, said his client was drunk at the time and had little memory of the incident.
Magistrates fined Westmorland £110 and ordered her to pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
