A VILLAGE beauty spot is hoping to attract more feathered visitors after installing new bird boxes.
As part of National Nest Box week, volunteers installed the bird homes in the Water Park at Middleton St George yesterday.
The boxes were constructed by adults with learning disabilities at Nubeck Nursery, a specialist training site run by Darlington Borough Council.
Coun Steve York, who organised the work on behalf of the parish council, said: “It is fantastic to use an organisation like Nubeck who have done a superb job making the nest boxes for us.
“This kind of work provides an opportunity for the team at Nubeck to show off their immense skills and it’s much appreciated by Middleton St George Parish Council and the residents of the village.”
He also thanked Paddock Farm Nursery who donated a quantity of bird food towards the project.
