A SECOND-HAND bookshop has been refurbished thanks to local businesses.
Darlington Lions Bookshop, in Blackwellgate Mews, Darlington, was fitted with a carpet and shelving at a discount courtesy of Darlington Timber and Frank's The Flooring Store.
All the books at the shop are donated by the public and the bookshop is run by volunteers from the Darlington Lions Club.
Chairman, Robert Hillary, said the number of books sold had doubled in the past year since a price reduction to 50p and hopes the new look to the shop will further enhance sales.
The clubs main donations this year will be to Talking Newspapers, Darlington, and the Darlington Multiple Sclerosis Society.
