4:41pm Friday 3rd February 2012 in Darlington
A MUSICAL that celebrates the rock and roll era is to come to Darlington for the first time.
Save the Last Dance for Me, written by comedy duo Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, and produced by Bill Kenwright, will appear at the Civic Theatre from Monday, February 20, for six nights.
The show features hits from across the Sixties as it tells the tale of sisters Jennifer and Marie during a family holiday to the coast in 1963.
Mr Marks said: “Ten minutes after the show started I thought - we’ve got a hit show. The whole place was buzzing. The thing that became apparent was this was a show that allowed people of my vintage to suddenly be transported back to the best time of their lives.”
Tickets cost £18-£30.50, with discounts available.
The show will be performed Monday to Friday, at 7.30pm, with a matinee at 2pm on Thusrday, and on Saturday at 4pm and 8pm.
