A CHARITY making a second attempt to break the world record for the most people signing and singing at the same time is looking for children in Darlington to take part.

Hundreds of youngsters from the town helped deaf healthcare charity Sign Health smash the record on its previous attempt, which attracted 94,489 children earlier this year.

They are now hoping more than 150,000 schoolchildren will join the event on February 8 next year.

The event will also be a fundraiser for the charity through sponsorship from businesses and a suggested donation of £1 for everyone taking part.

Young people from all over the country and overseas will learn to sign a song composed for the event, called Sign2sing.

The charity will produce a DVD to show children how to sign the song.

The event is mainly aimed at four to 11-year-olds, however, other younger or older children and adults can join in if they wish.
