Exhibition about Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll

STAFF at a North-East museum are researching for an exhibition about the life and times of a legendary children’s author.

The exhibition, at the Head of Steam Museum, in Darlington, is about Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll, who grew up in nearby Croft.

Called Lewis Carroll: Living in Wonderland, the exhibition will focus on his life in Croft, and the things that may have inspired him to write the famous Alice in Wonderland books, as well as different media interpretations.

Museum manager Dave Tetlow said: “We have, so far, had a great response from members of the public in relation to artefacts, photographs, books and documents about Lewis Carroll, but we need more help finding objects or costumes from stage productions, musicals or films.

“If anyone has anything they think might be of interest for the exhibition, please don’t hesitate to contact me.”

The exhibition will run from October until March next year in the museum’s temporary exhibition gallery.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Mr Tetlow on 01325-734121 or email david.tetlow@darlington.gov.uk
