Parish council and residents to help village bloom

5:16pm Monday 15th March 2010

RESIDENTS will be asked to play their part in a village's entry in an annual flower competition.

Sadberge Parish Council will contribute £150 to help clear a patch of land within the village for the Northumbria in Bloom competition.

One resident has asked to help dispose of rubbish on the land at the junction of Darlington Road and Laurel Terrace. He also wants to buy wood chippings to make new temporary footpaths.

The council will use part of the money from its success in the 2008 Calor Village of the Year competition for the work.

A newsletter will also be sent to residents with information about the Northumbria in Bloom competition and ways that the village can help.
