CHILDREN at a nursery on the outskirts of Darlington have helped to raise money for charity after taking part in a fancy dress 'toddlathon'.
Children at High Bank Nursery, which is based at High Bank Farm in Stapleton, did a one-mile walk around a field to raise money for Barnados.
Dressed as their favourite characters, including Roary the Racing Car, Batman, Sportacus and Spidermen, the youngsters, aged from six weeks to five-years-old, all successfully completed the walk, raising £260 in sponsorship in the process.
Tracey Reed, Manager of High Bank Nursery, said: "The children and staff had real good fun at the toddlathon and as well as raising money for a good cause, it was also a good way of encouraging exercise at a young age.
"As part of the children's development it is important to make them aware that there are other youngsters in the world less fortunate than themselves and that by taking part in events like this it is helping to raise money for charities that help these children."
