A HEALTHCARE provider is getting in the swing with its 17th annual golf day for charity.

Darlington-based home care provider Heritage Healthcare is again reaching out to the community for help, either with donations, auction prizes or entering a team to play as part of their long-standing commitment to St Teresa’s Hospice.

Over the years, golfers have gone above par to back the fundraising effort, with more than £210,000 being donated to the Darlington hospice since the year 2000.

Support can be given by businesses, community groups or other organisations in the area, by either clubbing together to play golf, sponsoring a tee, or providing prizes for the auction and raffle.

The event will tee off at Blackwell Grange Golf Club on Thursday, September 6.

Team entry costs £200 to include a 18-hold Stableford Tournament, including nearest the pin and longest drive competitions, a bacon roll on arrival and one-course meal after the game, as well as a team photograph.

A spokeswoman for Heritage Healthcare said: “There will be further fundraising competitions along the course too.

“In the evening there will be prize-giving, raffle draw and auction – it is open to everyone to attend.

“The cost to sponsor a tee is £150 for which your business name will receive representation on the course and in the booklet on the day.

“If you are interested in sponsoring any part of the day, the catering or anything during the day – please contact Anna.

“Last years’ Golf Day was again successful and it was all down to your generosity. We’d be extremely grateful if you could provide auction, raffle or team prizes for the event, all of which will be acknowledged during the presentation evening.”

In 2017, 24 teams teed off for the annual fundraiser, with £15,000 generated for the hospice during the day. The overall winners were a team put forward by Stockton-based charted surveyors, Robertson Simpson Ltd.

Heritage Healthcare director, Sally Pickersgill, has also been made an honorary member of the Darlington and District hospice movement to mark her dedication to the cause.
