Chess club
A CHESS club are seeking new members to join their meetings for friendly or competitive games. The Darlington and District Chess Club meet in the Cockerton Band and Musical Institute, off Woodland Road, Darlington. Social and league chess games are held on Monday nights at 7pm, with league games on Wednesdays. The junior branch of the club will meet in September. Litter picking
VOLUNTEERS can enjoy a pie and a pint in exchange for picking up litter on Friday, August 3. Darlington Cares will host its next child-friendly litter picking event between 4pm and 5.30pm with participants invited to meet in the Market Square. Football team
A GIRLS’ football team is looking for new players for its under-7s and under-15s teams. Middleton Rangers FC is appealing for youngsters to join them on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6pm until 7pm at the Eastbourne Sports Complex, Bourne Avenue. Kids’ crafts
A WHINNIE the Pooh-themed arts and crafts event will be held in Cockerton Library, Darlington, on Monday, July 30. The session, between 2pm and 3.30pm, is recommended for three to seven-year-olds. Entry is £3.50.
