DARLINGTON supporters will see all six of their new signings on Sunday when the new-look team plays its first friendly of pre-season at Blackwell Meadows.

They take on Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, with Tommy Wright eager to give his new signings their first run-out at Blackwell Meadows.

The manager has reshaped Quakers’ squad with 12 players leaving and half a dozen arriving since the end of last season, Wright happy to work with a smaller pool of players in his first full campaign at the helm.

His additions have filled positions across the pitch, with goalkeeper Jonny Maddison joining from Yeovil Town and Darlington-born defender Jonny Burn has also left an EFL side to sign for Quakers, arriving from Bristol Rovers.

A midfield recruit has been Liam Hughes, most recently of Billericay Town, and winger Alex Henshall has joined with something to prove having left Nuneaton Town midway through last season due to a dispute with the club and has not kicked a ball in anger since.

The capture of forwards Simon Ainge from Harrogate Town and Jordan Nicholson, last season with Barnet, have caught the eye, and supporters will be eager to see what they can do.

Ainge's arrival is of particular note as his transfer fee involved was covered by a fundraising drive at the end of last season, when supporters raised over £85,000 to boost Wright's budget.

Not only will the side feature new faces, the team will have a different look too as Darlington will wear their new yellow away kit, manufactured by Puma and sponsored by local firm Ebac.

Sunday’s game is the first of two home friendlies in three days as Sunderland are the visitors on Tuesday evening, a game brought forward 24 hours.

Kick-off on Sunday is 3pm, it is not all-ticket with admission £10 adults, £8 concessions and £5 U16s. Under 11s are admitted free.
