A POWER cut has left EE customers plagued with difficulties while using their phones.

EE’s engineers are currently working to resolve issues that are affecting coverage for their service users in Darlington.

The Northern Echo understands that problems with data use, 4G coverage and calls have persisted for several days in the area.

A spokeswoman for EE said: “We’re working to resolve an issue that is currently affecting coverage for our customers in the Darlington area.

“The issue has been caused by a power outage affecting local masts and our engineers are on site working hard to restore signal to full capacity as quickly as possible.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause for our customers while we work to resolve this issue.”

Some customers have reportedly been offered money off their bills to compensate them for the outages they have experienced.

One man said he had been struggling to use his phone since Friday, adding: “When I spoke to them, I was told there were major issues and there must be as there seems to be loads of people affected.

“I use my phone for business and it’s having a real impact as people can’t hear me during calls and I can’t use data.

“I’m paying for this service and they’re supposed to be one of the best networks in the country.

“It’s an absolute nuisance.”
