FORMER defence secretary Sir Michael Fallon has ruled out a return to frontline politics.
Sir Michael - the Conservative MP for Darlington between 1983 and 1992 - was speaking at an event on Teesside in which he was promoting the cause of the offshore wind energy sector.
The 65-year-old quit his ministerial post in November after allegations he had behaved inappropriately towards female journalists, stating that his behaviour had fallen short of the standards expected.
Sir Michael, the MP for Sevenoaks and also a former energy minister, was asked by The Northern Echo if he hankered for a return to the cabinet.
He said: "No, I am very happy with what I am doing. I have my own constituency to look after and I am pursuing different business interests - this is one of them.
"It is a sector I was heavily involved in before and it is good to look back at some of these earlier interests and see how they are getting on."
