DARLINGTON Lions Club was privileged to sponsor the medals which were presented to all competitors at the first Kieran Maxwell Memorial Open Track and Field Meeting recently.
Kieran a promising sprinter from Heighington who was being considered for the Great Britain triathlon team died last June aged 18 years following a seven year fight against a rare bone cancer. The event was orgaised by the Darlington Harriers Club and was held last weekend at the Eastbourne Sports Complex Darlington. Over 200 competitors plus family members and stall holders attended and is planned to become an annual event. All proceeds from the meeting will be donated to research in to Ewing Sacoma and all childrens’ cancers.
