A TOWN centre was transformed into a sea of colour and celebration as dozens of Morris Dancers descended.

Around 17 groups of Morris Dancers from across the country got into the groove in Darlington for mass dance displays at the weekend.

The event attracted groups from as far afield as Lincoln and Oxfordshire and was organised by the Black Diamond Mixed Cotswold Morris group in conjunction with Darlington Borough Council.

Performances took place throughout Saturday in the Market Square, Feethams, the indoor market, Skinnergate, Blackwellgate, Riverside Park and Bondgate.

Some dancers also stayed on to entertain visitors at the Head of Steam Railway Museum on Sunday.
