A CHAIN of Darlington youth clubs are launching with the hope of becoming a positive outlet for youngsters.

YMCA Tees Valley have been successful in receiving grant funding to create four new youth clubs in the town.

Red Hall will be the first community to take part in the campaign, with the children helping to decide which other areas would benefit from a youth club.

The company plans to reach out to 600 young people and deliver services all across Darlington.

On Monday February 12, children are invited to come along to Red Hall Community Centre from 4.30pm-6.30pm to get involved, meet the team and share their ideas for future events and activities.

A Spokesperson for YMCA Tees Valley said: “We want to make the club a safe space for children, where they can come and take part in activities they enjoy with their friends.

“What we do in the sessions will be co-produced by the kids, already we’ve had interest from pupils at Red Hall Primary school about craft activities and sports they would like to play.

“We will also be running holiday clubs at the community centre during Easter, the members will again decide what they would like to do at the club.”

A student at Red Hall Primary School said: “The YMCA have listened to us, I really enjoyed thinking about what is good about our community and I liked thinking of ideas for our youth club.”

Sessions will take place at Red Hall Community Centre between 5 and 6:15pm from February 26 open to Red Hall residents.
