TWO mental health charities have joined forces to help provide an even better service for people in need of support.

Darlington Mind and Mental Health Support (MHS) have merged after working closely together since May this year.

The new organisation will provide services across Darlington, South Durham, Hambleton and Richmondshire.

Chief executive Gary Emerson said “This is a great opportunity to develop new services and encourage more awareness of mental health issues across a wider geographical area.

"The combined organisation will work with more than 1,000 people every year supported by a staff team of 50 people and over 70 volunteers.”

Darlington Mind will provide services from bases in Darlington, Northallerton, Bedale, Richmond, Colburn, Stokesley, Catterick and Bainbridge with a combined turnover of over £1,100,000 per annum.
