VERDI'S Requiem will be brought to life by hundreds of musicians and singers this weekend.

Around 150 singers and a 50-strong orchestra will perform the renowned composer's work in Darlington on Saturday, November 25.

The concert forms part of Darlington Choral Society’s 160th anniversary season and will be conducted by Richard Bloodworth, with choristers from the Darlington and Yarm choral societies joining Opera Nova and The Mowbray Orchestra on stage.

A spokesman for Darlington Choral Society said the event would be an unforgettable musical experience, adding: “Verdi's operatic approach to the requiem mass firmly places it as one of the greatest sacred choral works ever written.

“If you are considering what to see and hear this month, then come and hear what the many talented people of our region can achieve given the opportunity.”

The concert will take place from 7.30pm at the Dolphin Centre. Tickets are £5 for students, £15 or £12 online.
