FIVE people have been charged with the burglary of a farm following their arrest on suspicion of going equipped to steal last week.

The charges relate to an incident in the remote Baldersdale area, near Barnard Castle in the early hours of Friday morning.

Four people – three adults and a juvenile, all from Darlington – are due to appear before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe on Thursday. They have been bailed on condition they do not enter Baldersdale.

A fifth person – a 23-year-old man from Darlington – is also charged with two burglary offences in North Yorkshire. He will appear at Crown Court – at a venue to be decided – on Wednesday.
